On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China and RP-China Friendship Day, Ambassador Gaa was interviewed live by CCTV 9's Asia Today on 9 June 2004. In the short interview with Asia Today's Executive Producer and Anchor Yang Fuqing, Ambassador Gaa noted that RP-China relations have grown and expanded from year to year since diplomatic relations were established in 1975. He also said the relationship was marked by close friendship, good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, and active and positive cooperation. Ambassador Gaa also said the two sides are working hard to have more trade, investment and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed optimism about the future prospects of RP-China relations.
